Strong Finish for 2024

I have had a strong finish for 2024.

I finished putting the binding on RSC, which was an improv class from Craftsy.

You can see closeup of the quilting here.  The borders are saying hello.  They were measured before being applied but I think the quilting was not as dense as the rest of the quilt, so they are waving.

My other goal for 2024 was to finish the "A Place for Everything" bag by Annie.  Several of our Thursday stitchin group are making it.  Here is mine.

This should hold all of the quilting supplies I need at any one time.  I won't use it until our January meeting on the 9th.

I'm trying to get some more suitcase laundry bags completed before the end of the year for the family we met while watching the eclipse.  You can read a little about them here and here.  They do a lot of camping and traveling.  They also visited with us on their way to the beach in October and I can't believe I didn't post about it.  And the bags are completed and are ready to put in the mail tomorrow.

I'm joining Shelly from Prairie Moon Quilts for the final countdown that she hosts.  I look forward to this every year.

Here is my before pictures of my sewing areas.

And the after...

Thanks, Shelly, for the nudge.

And finally, I rolled the dice today for the first time in a couple of weeks.
Number 2, the Snowman Rag Quilt.  Notice the copyright date at the bottom.  That's the year I bought this kit.  Only 21 years (soon to be 22).  Maybe I can make some progress on it.

Until next time, wishing you more stitchin time than I will have.

Merry Christmas

Are you ready?  I am.

I completed all of the suitcase laundry bags.  Three have already been gifted as they went on their cruise before Christmas.  Sorry, no picture of them.

The other five have been sent along with cash for Christmas.

The following quilt has been on the frame and off the frame multiple time.  I loaded it and realized I didn't have enough quilting room to do the diamonds.  I could have loaded it sideways, but I had already quilted the top border.  So I basted it on the frame and took it off to do the diamonds on the sit-down machine.  Then I reloaded it to complete the background and that's when Leon decided to quit.  It had to be removed to I could disassemble him. When he returned, I reloaded, pinning the top and floating the rest.  I have a clamp but it only spans half the quilt width so I attached it and did the fill down one side.  When I got to the bottom the quilt was crooked so I couldn't reach the bottom.  I removed it from the frame once again.  Then I decided to load it yet again, this time pinning the top and the bottom.  YEAH!!! it worked.  I managed to finish the quilting.

The sun coming in the window sure did show off the quilting.  I call this doodle quilting.  I, for some reason, can't doodle on paper, but I can on fabric.

Now to get the binding on before the end of the year.

This was an "original" Craftsy improv class by Jacquie Gering.  Back when, in MHO, a Craftsy membership was worth it.

Have a Merry Christmas, if you celebrate and a safe and happy New Year.

Until next time.

Wishing you more stitchin time than I will have.

Finally, the Girls

Rolling of the dice has been kind of sporadic, but it is the holiday season.  And other project obligations must come first.

Several of our Thursday group are making "A Place For Everything" bags by Annie.  I finally got my pages complete.

Fronts and backs.  Color is off, the reds are actually two different shades of pink.  Maybe once Christmas is over, I can get the outside done.

I did roll the dice last week.  #3 - Raw edge circles.  I had 19 of the 30 done and finished stitching the remaining 11.  Now these will be quartered and randomly sewn back together.

One of the guilds I belong to had dies made for the Accuquilt (4 different sized circles), then sold kits made from several stashes. I think I only had two different fabrics that were duplicated.

The blocks at the top in the center are our quilt-along block samples for December.

And I managed to get two basket handles hand stitched down (on the right).  Have I mentioned that I don't like hand work?  These will be the corners of the next border for what you can see in the upper left corner.

And finally, the retreat girls.  This was fun to put together.

I used my own block as the label.

They will be displayed in our Thursday stitching room.

Now, my goal is to complete nine laundry bags for my grands for Christmas.  They are all going on cruises so these will fit in the suitcases along with some cash to spend.

OH!! And Leon should be home today.  YAY!!!

Until next time....

Wishing you more stitchin time than I will have.
