Once Again, It's Been a While

I want to sew sew bad!!!!

I've been working on my oldest UFO.  I'm about 2/3 finished with the quilting.

Wednesday night or rather the wee hours of the morning Thursday a category 1 hurricane named Zeta came through central Alabama.  Yes, I said a CAT 1 and Central Alabama.  We lost power at 1:17 am.  Thursday evening my MIL (also without power) was having chest pains so the ambulance took her to the hospital.  I waited two hours in my car in the parking lot while she waited on a stretcher in the hall.  When I called the ER after the second hour I was told they had put her in a room and to call back in another hour.  I drove the hour home to arrive at a still dark home.  Even sleeping under a nice quilt it got chilly.  Friday night was to be colder.

If you read my last post you will know that we are thanking God for having the trees in our yard cut a little over a month ago.  We had several friends with trees through their homes.  Although none of the trees I've seen down were pines.  All hardwood trees.  We are still so thankful.

On Friday morning DH and I found a hotel room in anticipation of his mother being discharged.  My mistake was that I only booked the room for one night.  His mother was not discharged that day.  The next morning we were told the hotel was completely full for the next night and we couldn't stay.  Still no power we went on the hunt for another room.  Five hotels later we got on the interstate to go to the next exit to see if there was a room there.  Just as we approached the next exit my MIL's neighbor called to let us know their power was on.  We went home for a while so I could clean out my freezers and refrigerator including about 40 lbs of venison. I went to the sewing room wishing I could stitch something.  I came so close to pulling Florence out.

I stood and looked at her for some time.  But I really needed to go clean out my MIL's freezer too.  So DH and I packed some clothes and moved to her house.  She still was not discharged.  They found that she has c. diff which can be really bad and she's almost 90.

Today I went to the grocery store, there was a package of chicken and one of pork chops that were thawed but still cold so I decided that I could cook them today and tomorrow.  Still anticipating that she would come home to a good home cooked meal.  Not to happen today.  I told DH that if I were to start cooking dinner the neighbor would call and tell us that our power was on.  I didn't even have the mushrooms sliced when the call came.  I packed up her pan with a few of the ingredients in it and brought it home to finish dinner.

Nothing like your own chair and your own bed.

I'm not sure when I will get to sew sew I will continue to look forward to that time.

Wishing you more sewing time than I will have.

Rose
