Two More Toward My PHD

I have completed two more on my PHD list hosted by Quilting Gail.

The first one was a Free Motion Quilting Challenge hosted by Angela Walters.  This one is several years old, but I just completed it.  I started it on the sit-down HP Sweet Sixteen, so I finished it on that machine also.

The next one is what I call crazy blocks.

These blocks were made by my mother in the late 1960s or early 1970s.  I inherited them when she passed away in 2013.  I backed it with muslin because that's what she would have done.

My mother-in-law had given my daughter a quilt rack and she wanted this to put on it.

Some tidbits about the scraps......

I believe my sister had a dress made from this fabric.

I had a skirt made from this fabric.

And..... I was wearing a dress made from this fabric in my Kindergarten picture 60 years ago

Not all of the fabrics in this are considered "quilting" fabric but I figured if they've have lasted 60 years, they can't be all bad.

On a non-quilting note, we went on a trip in the motorhome to Clarksville, TN and got to spend an afternoon with my nephew that I haven't seen in 9 1/2 years.  His twins were toddlers last time I saw them, and I met the youngest for the first time last weekend.

We had a great time.  And now that we know it's only 6 hours away, we'll go back sooner.

And for the next trip, there are 13 of our guild members that meet every Thursday to sew.  We sew from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Seven of us are headed to Paducah, KY for the quilt show on Wednesday.  It's going to be sew much fun!!

To update my PHD.

Wishing you more stitchin time than I will have.

Finally finished

In January at our guild meeting one of the members (and former neighbor) asked me if I would be interested in making a t-shirt quilt.  She had a friend that needed one for her son that was graduating this year.  She had made one for their oldest son, but she wasn't interested in making another at this time.

I told her I was, and she passed my phone number to the friend.

IT WAS A BUGGER!!!  But it's finished!!!

After I had it in 3 columns ready to put together, I found out EQ8 has a design layout that I could have put the dimensions of each block and let it calculate the background.  Too little too late, at least for this one.

The client was very pleased, and I was telling her about the late information.  She let me know that I needed to keep that info in my mind because she has another son that is a sophomore, and she will be wanting me to make another quilt.

I am so glad to have this one complete.

Wishing you more stitchin time than I will have.
