Ready for our Trip!!

But not before I spend my Thursday with my sewing posse.  We will spend Friday packing the motorhome and set out on Saturday morning.

We are leaving this.....

Which is WAY better than it's been.

To this.....

And I can't wait!!!!  I hope before the month is over we will need to turn the furnace on.

Last year we spent Labor Day wrapped in quilts.  Posted here.

Last year I spent a week reminiscing with my siblings.  When I got home I remembered a story my mom had told me about her first road trip with the church ladies after she and my dad got married (see below).  I can't wait to share it and hope they haven't heard it.

This year we are staying a month.

We lost a brother at 53 in 2012.  He and I were born in the same year.  We were really close, raised almost like twins.  And this year his wife is joining us for 10 days.

I have made homemade breakfast burritos for the road trip.

I made (fresh gulf) shrimp burgers to share with my siblings when we get there.  And chicken teriyaki foil packets for all six of us also.  Sorry, didn't get pictures of those.

We are staying the first night at Cave City RV park in Tennessee.  We stayed there last year.  It was our first stay on our first road trip and I didn't buy a t-shirt😥.  So I booked the same campground so I can get one😃.

We are going a different direction this year trying to avoid the ROUGH roads in southern Michigan.

The camping list says we need a sewing kit so, my kit includes my Featherweight, mini iron, wool pressing mat, cutting mat and 2 projects (precut, purchased in Paducah).  I don't know how much sewing I will get done but it will be there if I choose.

Ok, so now for my mom's story.  A little background, my mother turned 17 on the 5th of the month and they got married on the 23rd.  So she was real young.  Said she went on a road trip with the church ladies.  They talked about this one and that one and another and yet another.  But when they started on my dad..... One of the ladies said she didn't know how Pete planned to get to Heaven smoking those cigarettes.  My mom stated "his cigarettes are not going to keep him from Heaven any more than the gossip I've heard in this car today."  She said you could have heard a pin drop in the carpet.  Finally one of them said "you're right Lois."

I love this story and I can't wait to share it.

Wishing you more stitchin time than I will have.
